188 Keefer

Vancouver, BC

At the corner of Main Street & Keefer Street in the heart of Chinatown, this 17 storey building combines a lower street wall, continuing the scale of the older existing historical area, and a taller tower symbolic of the new emerging architectural forms.
The brick podium, with its fully recessed balconies, decorative screens and railings, fabric awnings and an ornamental entrance gate reflects architectural expressions found in Chinatown buildings.
The tower consists of vertical boxes in varying heights, accentuated with board formed concrete feature walls and red back painted glazing panels on the lower portion along Keefer Street.
The stepping of the tower allows for generous roof patios on different levels. Amenities for residents include a gym and outdoor space on two different levels.

The backlit channel letter signage “The Unseen” is a public art contribution by Vancouver artist Ron Terada.
